other people's contexts
Blog: Other people's strange contexts--beautiful, strange, sad, funny photos of where children sleep, by James Mollison.
I have a piece in the Chronicle this week about the lovely work Conspire Theatre is doing with women in prison. The great surprise to me was how much of what they do is about lightness and joy, and how aboslutely essential that turns out to be.
It even manages to show a print by Albrecht Dürer in the same section of the show where kids dress up as witches, and make this juxtaposition quite natural and effective. The Dürer print portrays a witch riding a goat, her back to the animal's head as it flies through the air.
In my experience, as someone who hikes and is easily confused, there are three kinds of lost:
1. Off the path. in my case this is usually accidental. Scary.
2. On the path, but no idea where this path is going.
3. _Is_ this a path?
in my life right now I think I am the #3 kind of lost.
At Wild Basin right now, hiking, it's #2.
